Shine His Light, not yours

Shine His Light, not yours

Do you ever find yourself chasing the numbers? Do you value your post by the likes, shares and comments it gets rather than the quality of it? I think we’ve all fallen into this trap at some time or another. I know I’m guilty.

Whether you want to admit it or not, I believe we would all love a big following. To be a name that is known on the Gram! 😜

There is nothing wrong with having a goal & working towards it but what we do need to keep in check is the motives of our heart. Is it to inspire others in a positive way or are we just seeking fame? Does our post encourage and uplift another or does it make them feel worse about themselves & their life?

I have to constantly keep my heart and motives in check. It’s important to ask yourself the question, “Why am I doing what I’m doing?”. Do you ever ask yourself this question?

We’ve all heard the saying “quality over quantity” and the same goes for our posts on social media. We should be more concerned with the positive impact we make than the popularity we gain.

It is better to positively impact one person, than impact 100s negatively. What influence are you having? Because believe it or not you do have influence. Someone somewhere is watching, learning and basing their actions and opinions on things you are saying. You are a role model to someone.

Now I have a question that I know may offend some but I am interested to hear your opinion.

Have you ever found social media to be a bit like high school? You have the “popular cool kids” with a big following, whose name is known and spoken about. And then you have those with smaller followings, who can at times feel intimidated by and try gain approval from the greater influencers?

I’ve even seen some ladies change their thoughts, beliefs and opinions on a topic because the popular influencers didn’t agree with them. This is a dangerous place to be. We need to be secure in who we are and to Whom we belong, that no matter if someone famous on the Gram agrees with us or not, we don’t falter but stay true to who we are. I know this is much easier said than done but If you remember that God is for you, then who could ever be against you?

If you know your posts are authentic, true, uplifting and positively impact others, don’t worry about the numbers. Know your quality, know your value and keep doing what you are doing 💗

Don’t follow the numbers, follow your heart and what God is calling you to do.
